Announcement of New BCNET Board Members
BCNET welcomes new additions to the BCNET Board of Directors from its member institutions, industry and government.
Howard Brunt, VP Academic and Provost at the University of Northern BC, will contribute to the board an extensive background in education and research, areas in which BCNET conducts its main operations.
Jim Soles joins the BCNET board from the University of Victoria (UVic), where his responsibilities as Executive Director of Government Relations include communicating the relevance of research and teaching to the government. Soles brings experience from BC's postsecondary sector and the Ministry of Advanced Education, where he has served as assistant deputy minister. Also joining the board from UVic is Mark Roman, CIO and Executive Director of Computing and Systems Services at the university.
In addition, the BCNET board welcomes Cliff Neufeld, VP of Administration and Finance at Thompson Rivers University (TRU). Neufeld is responsible for the development, maintenance and integrity of TRU’s corporate, financial, budgeting, forecasting and purchasing systems. Brian Mackay, Associate VP and CIO of IT Services at TRU, joins the board alongside Chris Golding, VP of Learning and Technology Services at BCIT.
Adding to the presence of industry members among directors are Greg MacLean, Vice-President and General Manager of Big Pipe Inc. and Ron O’Dwyer, Vice President of Sun Microsystems Inc. for Western Canada.
