BCNET 2010 Project Continues to Pave the Way

This past summer, BCNET released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the renewal of the network link between Vancouver and Prince George. The RFP has since closed and a vendor, Shaw Business Solutions has been selected. The renewal of this network link demonstrates BCNET's commitment to paving the way for world class networks across the province of BC.
BCNET has entered into a contract with Shaw Business Solutions to provision a 10 GB network link between the Prince George and Vancouver Transit Exchange locations. This new and improved connection will bring world-class networking technologies to the northern communities of BC as well as increased network bandwidth capacity.
This upgraded connection between Vancouver and Prince George reflects BCNET's continued efforts and commitment to connect member communities across the province of BC as part of the BCNET 2010 Project funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education.
With increased network bandwidth capacity, researchers, educators and students in northern BC will now have access to "state-of-the-art"
networking technologies not previously available.
